Tax-Qualified Medical and Dependent Care Plan

Union Standard provides a Section 125 plan that allows employees to pay for eligible medical and dependent care expenses – such as amounts excluded by insurance deductibles – with pre-tax dollars, which reduces the amount of income taxes paid.

Employee Assistance Program

Union Standard recognizes that a wide range of personal issues not directly associated with job functions may affect job performance. In many instances, employees and family members may overcome these personal situations independently with little or no effect on performance. However, counseling assistance may be needed for some. All employees are eligible for such services through Aetna Resources for LivingSM. These services are offered in strict confidentiality and in no way affect job security.

Profit Sharing and Retirement Plan

All full time employees are eligible to participate in our Profit Sharing and Retirement Plan after completing one full calendar quarter of employment.

401K Savings Plan

All employees eligible for the Profit Sharing Plan also may participate in our voluntary 401K savings plan.

Employee Stock Purchase Plan

Employees may also purchase W. R. Berkley stock through payroll deductions, with no commissions paid.

General Benefits

Working Hours and Dress Code

Normal office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and flexible schedules are available. Union Standard has a business casual dress code.

Vacation and Holidays

Union Standard provides paid vacation time for full time employees, based on years of service. In addition to vacation, full-time employees receive paid time off for scheduled holidays.

Education Assistance

The Company aggressively supports professional insurance education by encouraging our employees to take IIA or CPCU courses. We pay for tuition, books, and examinations. As an additional incentive, bonuses are paid to employees who pass exams, complete programs, and attain designations. The Company also has a tuition reimbursement program.
